Biography
Robin English was born into a musical family in Arlington, Texas
and moved to Nashville when she turned 21 to pursue a career in music. Her sound is shaped by the weekend Texas jam sessions where family and friends would dance and sing along to boogie woogie, country, roots rock, bluegrass, gospel, and blues. She plays guitar and harmonica and learned to produce music while watching her parents record albums for songs they had cowritten. After making the rite of passage to Nashville, she had her mind set on getting a record deal. She wrote songs with more than 130 people, was in a band with Blake Shelton, and after 10 years in Music City, she got her first record deal with Sony Records. She co-produced her Sony project with George Massenburg, Kyle Lehning, Paul Worley, and Kim McLean. Her first single, “Girl In Love,” cowritten with hit songwriter Marcus Hummon, was on Billboard’s Top Single Sales for more than 8 months. In 2004, Tracy Lawrence cut a song she wrote with Jess Brown and fellow Texan, Tony Lane for Lawrence’s Strong album (“A Far Cry From You”). Then, she opened shows for Willie Nelson, had several hits on the Texas market, and was one of the most played independent artists of 2007. In 2008, she took time off from the road to focus on raising her son and pursuing a license to practice law and real estate. She continues to write, sing, and play in church and at venues in Texas. She is in the process of mixing a new album coming out later this spring.
